Channels Golf Club. Chelmsford, Essex

Channels Golf Club in Essex is our most visited wedding venue at which we are not a recommended supplier.

You know when a wedding venue is constantly busy that they are obviously doing something right.

A great feature of this venue (compared to most other golf clubs) is that the function room is its own building which is separate to the Golf Club. From a suppliers point of view this is fantastic as we can get in at all hours to set up when possible and not have to wait until the room is clear of members. From a customer’s point of view this is brilliant as you’re not pushed for time at the end of the evening so the staff can get the room ready for the next day. (That is unless they have a wedding the following day).

The building itself; The Essex Barn is a beautifully restored 17th century thatched barn. The stunning restored beams in the ceiling are what give the venue its character. This twinned with the wood flooring give you a neutrally coloured room in which you can add any colour schemes.
The room is split lengthways via open beamed walls. One huge room becomes two at the same time as keeping it open planned. Hard to explain without seeing it but it means you can have the ceremony in one half of the room and then move into the larger area for the sit down. Or, if the wedding is to be held elsewhere, the open partition allows a larger sit down reception to take place over the two rooms whilst still being able to see and socialise with each other via the open beams.

Channels holds 90 (civil) ceremony guests, 130 seated guest for the wedding breakfast and 200guests for the evening reception.
The bar and toilets are in the same building so everything is contained within the one room.
